PACE President Anne Brasseur said in an interview with RIA Novosti that she was concerned about the reported protests in Armenia.
YEREVAN, June 25. / ARKA /. PACE President Anne Brasseur said in an interview with RIA Novosti that she was concerned about the reported protests in Armenia.
"I am very concerned about what is happening there,” said Brasseur, adding that she gets information from media.
She called on the authorities and the protesters to remain calm and reminded that all actions must be carried out in strict compliance with the Council of Europe standards.
Responding to a question about whether she had the opportunity to talk with the representative of Armenia about what is happening there, she said that "unfortunately, it was not possible."
Thousands of mostly young people continue their round-the-clock blockade of Marshal Baghramyan Avenue in downtown Yerevan for a fourth straight day demanding a revoke of a decision by the public utilities regulatory commission that has raised electricity tariffs by 16 percent.-0-
