YEREVAN, October 22. / ARKA /. The Prosperous Armenia Party, the second largest party in Armenia’s parliament, controlling 37 seats, has nominated Martun Grigoryan as a candidate for the post of chairman of a standing committee on agriculture and environmental issues.
He is so far the only nominated candidate for the post. The vacancy appeared after Samvel Balasanian, a Prosperous Armenia lawmaker, was elected mayor of the second largest town Gyumri
"I've been involved in the work of parliament committees for five years, three of which I was deputy chairman," Grigoryan said at a parliamentary session, promising to make the work of the committee as transparent and open as possible.
"We are definitely going to work with civil society, visit the regions, look into the problems on the ground,» he said.
Martun Grigoryan was elected to the National Assembly in a single-mandate constituency in Gyumri. He is also vice chairman of the committee on European integration and a member of the committee on science, education, youth and sports affairs. -0-
