YEREVAN, September 13. / ARKA /. Armenians of Russia have welcomed the decision of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to make Armenia a member of the Russian-led Customs Union, chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan said.
"This decision is backed by a string of factors such as politics, education and science. Absence of language barrier also mattered. Armenia is the traditional economic partner of Russia. In my view, the membership will benefit both Armenia and Russia. Armenian president made a very big and profitable step, " he said yesterday at a press conference in Moscow.
Russia has the largest Armenian community in the world - more than 2.5 million people. “This decision will benefit the community as well taking into account the fact that the Russian authorities are planning to introduce visa regime with non-Customs Union member countries from 2015,’ Abrahamyan said. -0-
