Situation on Atsakh border stably tense this night – Defense Army

After the statements of the international community, in particular, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, on the immediate cessation of hostilities and the establishment of a ceasefire in the zone of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan conflict, the situation on the front line was relatively stable and tense, the Artsakh Defense Army reported Tuesday morning.

YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. After the statements of the international community, in particular, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, on the immediate cessation of hostilities and the establishment of a ceasefire in the zone of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan conflict, the situation on the front line was relatively stable and tense, the Artsakh Defense Army reported Tuesday morning.

According to the report, the Defense Army fully controls the operational tactical situation and is ready for any developments, the message says.

In the early morning of Tuesday, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan wrote on his Facebook page that under the special conditions of martial law, all levels of government act effectively.

“Both in the rear and on the front lines, everyone is well aware of their actions. Everything is under my direct and complete control and coordination,” he said.

Shushan Stepanyan, the press secretary of the Armenian defense ministry, warned that in case of further aggravation, the military and political leadership of Azerbaijan will bear full responsibility.

War in Artsakh

On September 27, at 07:10, Azerbaijani troops launched an offensive along the entire length of the contact line in Artsakh, but were thrown back in several directions. Intense fighting continues in the south, southeast and north of the front line. Turkey joined the aggression. Residential areas are being shelled as well. 

The Azerbaijani side suffered losses in manpower (more than 3,154 people killed and around 5,000 wounded) and equipment, in particular, 220 UAVs, 3 units of TOS – 1A, 4 Smerch and Uragan MLRS, more than 368 tanks and other armored vehicles, 14 helicopters and 17 aircraft. According to the data of the defense ministry of Armenia and Artsakh, more than 220 Armenian servicemen were killed and hundreds wounded on the Armenian side. Also 21 civilians were killed and 82 wounded on the Armenian side. 

Armenia informed the international community, including the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, about the aggression by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, also about the shelling of peaceful settlements.

Martial law and general mobilization were declared in Artsakh and Armenia. -0---
