YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. In an address to his fellow citizens Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) as a war declared on the Armenian people.

“Today, from early morning, Artsakh was subjected to the aggression of the armed forces of Azerbaijan. The civilian population of Artsakh, the capital Stepanakert, and civilian infrastructures are being bombed. At the moment, there are casualties and wounded, including among the civilian population. Using heavy weapons, the enemy is attacking the positions of the Defense Army in all directions,” he said.

Pashinyan stated that the Defense Army is conducting defensive battles and honorably fulfills its duty to protect Artsakh.

“The totalitarian administration of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev has switched to military operations. This is a war declared on the Armenian people. This is a war against our independence, freedom and dignity. The Armenian people are ready for this war, because they have always soberly realized that the hatred for  Armenians,  which Azerbaijani totalitarianism has been feeding its people for decades, could not lead to any other result than war," said the prime minister.

He stated that Azerbaijani totalitarianism has become a hostage of its own anti-Armenian policy and today is trying to justify its propaganda promises to resolve the Karabakh issue by military means.

“The Armenian people are ready to give a worthy counterattack to the enemy. Armenia is the guarantor of the independence and security of Artsakh. Armenia with all the potential of its people and state system stands next to Artsakh. We will make every possible and impossible effort to protect the inviolability of the borders of our Motherland, to protect our freedom and independence,” Pashinyan said.

The prime minister noted that as the party that signed the 1994 ceasefire agreement, Armenia will take all the necessary political, diplomatic and military steps to ensure physical security and force the enemy to peace.

“At the moment, the enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower and military equipment. Azerbaijan must firmly realize that the combat capability of our army is today as high as ever. The adversary must understand that all Armenians are behind Artsakh. We are united, as has always been the case at key moments in our history,” he said.
Pashinyan stated that the totalitarian authorities of Azerbaijan must understand that the Armenian people cannot be brought to their knees.

“During our thousands-year history, we have had many decisive moments and have overcome many difficulties. Our cause is right, and these criminal claims will also receive a worthy response. We are well aware that totalitarian Azerbaijan can start hostilities on the borders of Armenia and go to various provocations to completely destabilize the situation in the region. This is the reason that martial law and general mobilization have been declared in Armenia,” he said. -0-
