U.S. citizens in Armenia told to maintain a high level of vigilance

YEREVAN, September 13, /ARKA/. All U.S. citizens overseas, including U.S. citizens residing in Armenia, are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and good situational awareness in light of recent attacks on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya, the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan said today.

The U.S. Embassy in Armenia said it has no specific information to indicate that these events will affect security in Armenia.  The U.S. Embassy in Armenia is observing normal working hours.

On Tuesday, unidentified persons fired at the building of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya with grenade launchers, killing U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, a member of the Information Department of the Embassy and two State Department employees.

Protesters gathered on Wednesday in front of the U.S. Embassy in Egypt's capital to burn the U.S. flag. Thirty people were injured in a clash with security forces. The protesters complained about the movie "The innocence of Muslims" in which the Prophet Mohammed is presented in a very unfavorable light. -0-
