YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. Some 4,744 marriages were registered in Armenia in the first quarter of this year – 3.3% year-on-year growth, Karine Kuyumjyan, chief of the National Statistical Service’s census and demography division, said Wednesday at a news conference.
She also told journalists that the number of divorces grew 34.9% over one year from 897 in the 1st Q 2013 to 1,210 in the 1st Q 2014.
“Some 30% of all divorces in 2013 came after 20 years of marriage,” she said.
Kuyumjyan said that the average age of the people getting married is 30 for men and 26 for women.
According to statistical reports, Armenia has 3,012,900 permanent residents, of which 1,911,800 live in urban and 1,101,100 in rural areas. -0---
