About 25 people still in beleaguered Kessab
YEREVAN, April 7. /ARKA/. About 25 old people are still in beleaguered Kessab, member of executive body of emergency support to Armenian communities from Latakia Karo Manjikyan told reporters Friday.
These people are in a depressed state, Manjikyan said before “Kessab” film was demonstrated in the Mediacenter.
About 150 families from Kessab settled in Latakia, near the Sourp Asdvadzadzin church. They are provided with two meals a day and living essentials by Latakia population, Manjikyan said.
Houses of Kessab residents are looted and destroyed, but even then they still hope to get back to their home town to continue living on their ancestors’ land, he said.
Eyewitnesses say their household items and utensils are put on sale in Turkish markets, Manjikyan said.
“What we survived in 1915 is taking place again”, he said. –0--
