About AMD 60 million allocated by Yerevan municipality for organization of new year festivities
YEREVAN, December 11. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality has allocated about AMD 60 million (about $147,900) for organization of New Year festivities in the Armenian capital.
Araz Baghdasaryan, chief of the municipality’s division in charge of styling and advertising, speaking today at a news conference, said that more than 50 streets in all the districts of the city will be decorated with illuminations.
Kamo Movsisyan, chief of the municipality’s culture and tourism unit, on his side, said that festivities will start on December 17 after ceremonial lighting on the main Christmas tree and a festive concert, and on December 20 the skating rink on the Swan Lake will be opened.
Movsisyan said that people can attend a traditional big concert on the Republic Square on December 31, which will end in fireworks.
“On December 5, a concert for children will be staged here, and on December 6, the Christmas Day, another festive event will be held with participation of musical bands,” he said.
The festive program will be ended in a gala concert on the main square of the city.
“Besides, performances will be shown to children in all the municipality-affiliated theatres,” Movsisyan said adding that there will be also many other events in Yerevan. ----0----
