YEREVAN, July 26. /ARKA/. Achilles Center for Protection of Drivers' Rights non-governmental organization has won fifteen counter-actions against traffic police since the beginning of the year, the chairman of the organization Eduard Hovhannisyan, said today.

He said forty more cases were in the process. According to him, the organization wins some 70 percent of all counter actions. He noted that the bulk of cases involve tickets issued for driving with unfastened seatbelts.

According to Hovhannisyan, traffic police officers often issue tickets for driving without seatbelts, but when the driver refuses to pay the penalty and the case reaches court officers can not provide video to ground their accusation.
"We have presented to the Armenian parliament a draft law which requires that the second copy of the police protocol be provided to the driver to exclude such cases," said Hovhannisyan.

In turn, a deputy chief of Traffic Police, Hayk Sargsyan, disagreed with Hovhannisyan, who claimed that some traffic police officers falsify signatures. He said if proof is provided the police will punish such officers.  -0-
