Another labor fair to be held in Armenia in mid-November

YEREVAN, October 5. /ARKA/. Another labor fair will be organized in Armenia in the middle of November, Sona Harutyunyan, the head of Armenia’s state employment agency, said Friday at a news conference. 

“We have organized five fairs in five cities in Armenia’s provinces since the beginning of this year,” she said. “We are planning to hold another fair in Yerevan or in Goris.”

Harutyunyan said that the city will be chosen by taking into account demand at labor markets of Goris and Yerevan. 

She also said that a three-day labor fair for IT specialists is now open in Yerevan as part of Digitec. 
Harutyunyan said 161 employers and 7,350 jobseekers took part in the five labor fairs since the beginning of the year. Some 953 job vacancies have been offered there and 71 people employed. 

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, there were 63,800 unemployed people in Armenia in early September 2012 – 13% less than in early September 2011.

Jobless people make up 84.9% of the total number of jobseekers in Armenia. Unemployment rate among women is still high – women constitute 71.7% of the total number of the total number of unemployed people. -0-
