YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Armenia is negotiating now with Russia to purchase another number of Su-30SM fighter aircrafts, Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan told Azatutyun Radio on Sunday.
The minister said that it was also possible to conclude a contract for the modernization of four Su-25fighters. He noted that their modernization will be carried out on the territory of Russia.
"It is still impossible to organize this in Armenia," Tonoyan said.
The minister also said that he was inspired by the intentions to create new defense enterprises in Armenia.
It was reported earlier that Moscow and Yerevan signed a contract for the purchase of four multifunctional Su-30SM fighters, which the Armenian armed forces should receive in 2020. Remarkable is that for the first time in decades, Armenia is acquiring new, not used aircraft. -0-
