The birth rate in Armenia in the first seven months of 2022 decreased by 3.4% compared to the same period in 2021, according to data, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

YEREVAN, August 6. /ARKA/. The birth rate in Armenia in the first seven months of 2022 decreased by 3.4% compared to the same period in 2021, according to data, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

A total of 19,470 babies were born during the reporting period, compared to 20,164 babies born in the first seven months of 2021. However, if compared to the same time span of 2020, when 19,435 babies were born, the birth rate in the first seven months of 2022 was up 0.2%.

Also, some 257 cases of stillbirths were registered in the period, which is 9.2% less than in the same period of 2021 and 6.2% more than in the same period of 2020.

Overall, some 16,548 deaths were recorded in January-July 2022, an 11.1% decrease from the same period in 2021 and a 3.9% decrease from the seven months of 2020. -0-
