Armenia’s birthrate grew slightly in 2021

Armenia's birth rate increased by 0.6% in 2021 compared to 2020 and by 1.5% compared to 2019, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.
YEREVAN, Feb. 9. /ARKA/. Armenia's birth rate increased by 0.6% in 2021 compared to 2020 and by 1.5% compared to 2019, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.
It said that 36,585 children were born in 2021, up from 36,353 newborns in 2020 and 36,041 in 2019.
Meanwhile, of the total number of newborns in 2021, 19,064 were boys (19,054 in 2020 and 18,913 in 2019) and 17,521 were girls (17,299 in 2020 and 17,128 in 2019).
According to the statistics, there were 498 stillbirths in 2021, a 10.2% increase over 2020 and a 17.8% decrease over 2019. -0-
