Armenia’s population 9,500 less than in early 2013 - ArmStat

YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Armenia’s population declined by 9,500 people by January 1, 2013, compared to the beginning of 2012, ArmStat reported.

Number of permanent population was 3,017,400 people as of January 1, of them 1,914,300 living in towns and 1,103,100 in villages, according to the report.

Armenia’s frontier electronic management system reports a total of 4,983,900 trips via the country’s frontier check-up points in 2013, compared to 4,426,600 trips in 2012.

Number of entries into the country (without identification) was 2,476,350 in the reporting period (12.9% increase over the year), and there were a total of 2,507,538 departures (12.2% increase). The difference between entries and departures was 31,888,000 trips (27.1% reduction).

Number of births dropped by 1.7% to 41,770 people in 2013. Number of deaths has declined by the same 1.6% in the period to 21,165. This means, births outpaced deaths by 1.5 times, and natural increase in population was 14,605 people in 2013. –0—
