YEREVAN, January 31. /ARKA/. Yerevan international Zvartnots airport has been recognized best CIS airport at emerging markets airports competition, the press service of “Armenia-International Airports” told Novosti-Armenia.
The voting results for over 20 nominations (best European airport, best Middle East airport, best world airport and others) were announced at the second annual fair of emerging market airports in Dubai on January 30.
Among other CIS airports presented at the fair were Moscow airports Domodedovo and Sheremetevo, Pulkovo of Saint-Petersburg, Manas of Bishkek. The award winner has been determined in an online vote in more than one month.
The Emerging Markets Airports Award (EMAA) was founded by Arabian Reach, supported by German Airports Technology Equipments, Netherlands Airports Technology Group, British Airports Group, and Middle East Aerospace Consortium & Local Government Authorities.
In September 2011, a new passenger terminal opened in Zvartnots international airport. The terminal can serve up to 3.5 million passengers every year, compared to the previous 1.6 million. The airport has some 50 passenger registration desks equipped with CUTE technology.
Armenia – International Airports closed joint stock company runs Zvartnots airport as per the concession agreement for 30 years signed with the Armenian government in 2011.
The company is owned by Argentinean “American International Airports” company belonging to Argentinean of Armenian origin Eduardo Eurnekian. -0-
