YEREVAN, July 29. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today the release of 3.4 billion drams for acquisition of 500,000 dozes of vaccines against the coronavirus produced by China (Sinopharm) and Germany (Pfizer).

According to Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, so far 163,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the country of 3 million population.

She said that the ministry is elaborating a package of restrictions and incentives for people who avoid vaccination or get vaccinated.

She noted that the situation in the region in connection with the new "delta" strain of the virus, which has spread in Georgia and Russia is quite serious.

"The situation in Armenia is relatively stable, despite a certain weekly increase in the number of new confirmed cases. It is important that we maintain this trend so that there are no sharp jumps," Avanesyan said.

She also said that the Lithuanian government approved the donation of 25,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines to Armenia.

Vaccination in Armenia is free of charge. Armenian health authorities are using three types of vaccines: Sputnik-V (Russia), AstraZeneca (Britain) and CoronaVac / Sinovac (China). The government’s objective is to have between 600,000 and 700,000 people vaccinated within a year. -0-
