Armenian capital city to have Europe Square

The Yerevan Council of Elders (legislative assembly of the Armenian capital city) has voted today to name a small square in the downtown Yerevan North Avenue Europe Square in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA. The Yerevan Council of Elders (legislative assembly of the Armenian capital city) has voted today to name a small square in the downtown Yerevan North Avenue Europe Square in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
The decision was endorsed by 42 members of the Council of Elders; there were no voters against; two members abstained.
The opening of the square will take place next week when PACE President will be visiting Armenia. The idea to have Europe Square in Yerevan belongs to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Armenia’s representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador P. Hovhannisyan. -0-
