Armenian president talks with heads of higher schools about need for education code

YEREVAN, January 17. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan discussed adoption of an education code in the country with the minister of education and science Armen Ashotyan and rectors of Armenian state-funded higher schools Wednesday.

Rectors of the schools stressed that such a code will allow integrating the legal framework for educational sector, the presidential press service reported.
The president instructed to set up an expert group and involve the respective parliament commission for studying the matter in detail.

Participants of the meeting discussed also a number of other pressing issues, like alteration of generations in science and education, lack of certain specialists, statuses of state-supported higher schools, measures to ensure high standard of education.

Chairman of the rectors’ board, rector of the Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan and the minister of education and science Armen Ashotyan reported on the measures taken to implement decisions of the previous meeting. –0--
