YEREVAN, October 28. / ARKA /. David Vardanyan, the 29 year-old son of Armenian sport and youth affairs minister Yuri Vardanyan, will have a public defense counselor.
David Vardanyan was arrested by Armenian law-enforcement authorities earlier this month on charges of smuggling narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without an intent of selling. A criminal case has been launched by the Main Investigation Department of the Police.
If found guilty David Vardanyan may be sentenced to a prison term between four to eight years. According to the Armenian media, he tried to smuggle drugs from Iran.
According to a police statement, the defendant said he is jobless and have no money to hire a paid defense counselor. .-0-
