Armenian traffic police to hold car owners not having insurance policies liable

YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s traffic police say drivers not having mandatory car insurance agreements will be held liable, the press office of the Police reported.

Under the amendments to the mandatory car insurance law and the Code of administrative offences, car owners will be fined 5,000 drams for each 10 days of delay if they do not have their insurance policies signed within 10 days as from January 1st 2014. Traffic police officers will be checking availability of such agreements in the state register database.

Bearing in mind inaccuracies that may occur in administrative acts in the beginning due to technical problems, the police suggests citizens applying, when required, to the administrative department of the traffic police at Admiral Isakov 9 or call 374 (10) 56 45 88, says the report.

The mandatory car insurance was introduced in Armenia on January 1 2011. ($1=409.94drams).—0--
