Armenian universities eligible to run for grants to carry out innovative projects

YEREVAN, October 17. / ARKA /. Armenian state-run and privately-owned universities are eligible to compete for grants ranging from $100,000 to $600,000 for implementing innovative projects, Hasmik Ghazarian, head of an office in the ministry of education and science in charge of implementation of educational programs, said yesterday.

"The main goal of this program is to stimulate innovative programs in universities to improve the quality and effectiveness of education,” she said.

According to her, the program funded by the World Bank, offers three types of grants: for consortia - $300-600 thousand, for public and for private universities - from $ 100 to $ 300 thousand. She said applications for participation in the competition for grants has already begun and will last until the 3rd of December.

She also said if the program proves successful it will be made permanent to encourage innovation solutions at universities. -0-
