YEREVAN, December 23. / ARKA /. The art of making flat Armenian bread, lavash, may be included in UNESCO’s list of World Intangible Heritage, according to deputy Armenian minister of culture Arev Samuelyan.
According to her, the finalized application called " Lavash: making, significance and cultural manifestation of traditional Armenian bread " is ready and will be submitted to UNESCO in the coming days.
Samuelyan said Armenia’s application will be considered in 2014 December at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO in Paris.
UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage includes Armenian duduk music, symbols and craftsmanship used to create khachkars (cross - stones) and the medieval Armenian epic David of Sasoun, telling about the struggle of Armenians of Sasoun (a historic Armenia area, now in Turkey) against Arab domination. -0-
