Big new COVID-19 outbreaks expected in Armenia – health minister
YEREVAN, June 4. /ARKA/. Big new outbreaks of COVID-19 infection are expected in Armenia, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said Thursday at a regular government meeting.

He said that according to the results of the tests carried out the day before, the highest infection rate was recorded - 697 people at once, because of which the total number of cases reached 11,221. The number of deaths increased by six and reached 176 people.

In his words, the figures showing severe and extremely severe patients remain the same - 391 people are in serious condition, 59 people are in extremely serious condition and 15 patients are connected to the ventilator.

“There is an important dangerous trend - when cases are noted in industrial teams. This has already been said in recent days and, based on our experience, we can say that large outbreaks will follow,” said Torosyan.

He recalled the fact of one or two outbreaks in March that came especially from industrial facilities - the virus has spread rapidly in the country.

The minister said that now, perhaps, a similar scenario will be repeated again. Therefore, it is very important to comply with all the rules at industrial facilities.

In his words, the situation with daily hospitalization remains tense. As an example, he noted that about 15-20% of infected people need hospitalization, while the rest remain at home under the supervision of clinics. All patients are accommodated on existing beds.

“Now it’s very important for us to register a serious decline in indicators so that we can continue our approaches - not to leave anyone without medical care and continue to work in the same mode. Otherwise, it will be difficult to continue our actions. We basically must proceed from such steps,” said Torosyan.

The state of emergency, introduced in Armenia on March 16, 2020 and extended to May 14, is again extended until 17:00 on June 13 inclusive.
According to the latest official report released Thursday morning, there are 11,221 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases, 176 deaths and 3,468 recovered patients in Armenia.--0---
