YEREVAN, June 17. /ARKA/. Dilijan International School (DIS) will be a top level boarding school, vice-president and financial director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Manfred Schepers said.
Being EBRD vice-president and member of United World Colleges (UWC) international council he supported the idea of opening a leading international school in Dilijan, Schepers said.
The new school will have a long-term development impact on the entire region, EBRD vice-president said, as quoted by DIS press office.
As part of global UWC organization the school will be able to attract professors and student from all over the world.
Students from 12 UWC colleges enter leading universities of the world: DIS students will have the same opportunity, Schepers said.
UWC Dilijan students will have a chance to reach international and intercultural understanding while studying with students from all over the world, according to EBRD vice-president.
UWC Dilijan is a private charity project initiated by co-head of Sberbank CIB Ruben Vardanyan. Its total cost is $150 million, including $20 million already invested.
The school will welcome talented children from Armenia and abroad. The school will provide education on humanities and natural sciences. Annual fee is expected to be $30,000.
Academic excellence scholarships are envisages. About 650 students are expected to get their bachelor’s degrees in the college every year.–0--
