Doctors struggling for lives of injured in elevator fall accident in Yerevan

YEREVAN, October 26. /ARKA/. The doctors are struggling to save lives of the two injured in the accident yesterday, when an elevator in one of Yerevan’s 17-floor buildings fell down into the shaft, Health Minister of Armenia Derenik Dumanyan told journalists on Friday.

“The injured are still in a grave condition, they have lots of fractures and contusions. We are struggling for their lives,” he said.
The rolling rope of an elevator in one of Yerevan district’s buildings broke Thursday resulting in the death of two people, and injuring another two. At the moment of falling the elevator was transporting freight. The injured individuals, 45-year-old Khachik Yepremyan, and 60-year-old Gevorg Safaryan, were hospitalized to “Armenia” medical center.

According to the Emergency Situations Ministry, the elevator was not registered anywhere, and was just a handmade construction for a freight pull-up. -0-
