YEREVAN, July 10. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia passed Tuesday a package of amendments to the law on the government’s structure and activity. “Earlier, certain monitoring functions were given to the environment ministry, the agriculture ministry and the emergency ministry,” Environment Minister Erik Grigoryan said Tuesday at the parliament’. “Now all these functions will be given to the environment monitoring center, which will start providing appropriate information to citizens as a result of re-equipment.”

The minister said he meant the Weather Forecast Service, where job cuts are expected. He, however, found it difficult to say how many jobs will be cut.

Economic efficiency of this reform was discussed at the parliamentary session – how much it will cost to the government to establish this center and revamp it.

“No additional spending from the government budget will be needed for that,” Grigoryan said. “More than that – we have made arrangements with several partners. The Green Climate Fund will provide a $3-to-10-million grant, depending to necessary expenses.” -0---
