Farm fair kicks off in center of Yerevan
YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. The third agricultural fair opened at “Malibu” café in the center of Yerevan Saturday.
The farm fair is supported by Armenian ministry of agriculture and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).The opening ceremony was attended by Armenia’s minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan and the mayor of Yerevan Taron Markaryan.The fair is to help residents of Yerevan buy agricultural products ahead of the holidays, says the report.
The aim of the farm fair is also to help increase farmers’ income and re-establish village-town trade links. More than 150 farmers from almost all over Armenia will present their products. Farmers are provided with free scales, trolleys and stalls to ensure up-to-standard services.
It is the third agricultural fair in 2012 giving Yerevan residents a chance to buy farm products directly from producers, minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said.
The first farm fair opened in Erebuni community of Yerevan in July 2008. The minister reported that a total of 30-40 tons or farm products have been sold at a similar regular fair held at a square near Kasyan street in Arabkir community of Yerevan since 2011.
The third farm fair will offer rural products to residents of Yerevan every day till 30th of December. –0--
