YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. A grant social program worth $100,000 will be implemented in four Armenian regions, coordinator of the program on mitigation of labor migration consequences and involvement of migrants in regional development Varya Merujanyan told reporters Wednesday.
Grants will be provided for implementation of 10 projects in four Armenian regions – Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik and Tavush, she said.
The program will aim at improving social status in the regions and in socially vulnerable families in particular, along with the existing social packages, Merujanyan said.
Under the program, new social services will be offered, centers of home care for the elderly and children in particular.
Funding is available for this year. The initiators will be seeking for new sources later if important projects are available, Merujanyan said.
The program is implemented by UNICEF, EU delegation to Armenia, ministry of labor and social affairs and ministry of territorial administration.
A three-year program worth about million euros to reduce poverty among labor migrants in most vulnerable regions of Armenia (Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik, Tavush) started back in December 2012. –0--
