YEREVAN, June 13. /ARKA/. If water price is increased, one family’s monthly spending will grow only by 75-90 drams, Murad Sargsyan, chief of Yerevan Jur water-supplying company’s press office, said on Friday.
In February, the Yerevan Jur submitted to the Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission the calculations justifying the prices the company proposed for water supply, sewerage and purification of waste water for 2014 and 2015.
In particular, the company proposed to raise the consumer price for one cubic meter from the present 170,256 drams (including VAT) to 177,746 (including VAT).
“I don’t think that the probable increase will strike hard at Yerevan’s residents, since, according to preliminary calculations, monthly expenses of one family will grow by 75-90 drams at the most,” Sargsyan said.
Karapet Ohanyan, the head of Yerevan Jur’s branch East, on his side, said the water price had not been changed significantly for several years, but now it is necessary to raise it for a better service.
Yerevan Jur proposes to raise the wholesale price from 17,026 per one cubic meter (including VAT) to 18.174 drams (including VAT), and drainage of underground water of the Yerevan subway from 9,756 drams per cubic meter to 10.186 drams.
