YEREVAN. May 12. / ARKA /. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will continue to support the pension reform in Armenia, Mark Horton, IMF Mission Chief to Armenia, said today at a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Sargsyan’s press office reported.
It said the meeting was also attended by Teresa Daban Sanchez, the IMF Resident Representative in Armenia.
President Sargsyan was said to have highly appreciated the programs implemented together with the IMF.
Sargsyan highlighted Mr. Horton’s visit to Armenia immediately after the formation of the new government, which he said is a good opportunity to discuss the program of cooperation for the coming years.
In turn, Mr. Horton presented the results of his meeting with the new Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and noted with satisfaction the willingness of the government of Armenia to discuss issues of mutual interest.
In the context of the reforms the sides also touched upon the pension reforms. Mr. Horton noted that the IMF has supported and will continue to support these reforms, which are essential for the economic development of Armenia.-0-
