Minister: no increase in public transport fares expected in Yerevan

YEREVAN, January 30. /ARKA/. Public transport fares in Yerevan are expected to remain unchanged, Armenian Transport and Communication Minister Gagik Beglaryan said today.

On July 20, Yerevan public transport fares were increased from 100 drams to 150 drams. This move triggered a fierce backlash in the capital city.  The protests staged in Yerevan have forced Taron Margaryan, the city mayor, to withdraw his decision. He said that a special commission will be set up for revising transport fares.

On October 29, his deputy, Kamo Areyan, told journalists that public transport fares are likely to be increased in Yerevan. He said that the special commission is working to find way out of the situation..-0----
