More than 218,000 calls received by Yerevan ambulance service in 2013

YEREVAN, January 9. /ARKA/. The emergency medical service of Yerevan received 218,597 calls in 2013, Tagui Stepanyan, director of Ambulance CISC, told journalists today. 

«This number is greater than that of the previous year by 16,140,» she said adding that 39,530 times people were rushed to hospital – more than in 2012 by 1,621.  

Some 6,851 calls were received in New Year holidays (from Dec 30 to Jan 7) – the figure exceeds that of 2012 by 879. In 1,139 cases hospitalization was necessary by 206 more than in 2012. 

The largest number of calls came on January 4 – 830. On the first day of this year 809 calls came.  

«Very often people ask for ambulance service because of cardiovascular and acute respiratory diseases as well as injuries,» Stepanyan said. -0---
