National statistical service: 18,363 marriages registered in Armenia in 2013

YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Some 18,363 marriages were registered in Armenia in 2013, Karine Kuyumjyan, chief of the National Statistical Service’s census and demography division, told journalists on Saturday. 

This number is 3.7% less than that of the previous year. Instead, the number of divorces rose 15.6% from 3,250 in 2012 to 3,756 in 2013.   

Natural population growth was recorded at 14,605 people in 2013, 1.9% less than in 2012, when the country’s population grew by 14,881.  

Birth rate went 1.7% down in 2013, when 41,770 babies were born (42,480 in 2012). Death rate shed in the country as well – 27,165 in 2013 against 27,599 in 2012 (1.6% decline). -0---
