Armenia’s authorities will refrain from raising the price for natural gas.
YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Armenia’s authorities will refrain from raising the price for natural gas.
The country’s government intends to amend the Armenian-Russian agreement on supply of Russian natural gas to Armenia, and the matter will be discussed at the nearest cabinet session, Zhoghovurd (People) reports.
According to the newspaper, the natural gas price on border will remain unchanged - $150 per 1,000 cubic meters. In 2017, natural gas has been imported from Russia at this very price.
The agreement will be in force until December 31, 2018.
The fact that the wholesale price remains unchanged give grounds for thinking that the retail price will not be increased as well.
In early April 2016, Armenia and Russia signed an inter-government agreement, in accordance to which Russia decreased the wholesale price for the gas it exports to Armenia from $165 to $150 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Gas price was expected to be increased in 2018, but negotiations in Yerevan resulted in a decision not to increase it and left at $150 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Gazprom Armenia CJSC, established in December 1997, is a subsidiary of Russia’s Gazprom Energy Holding.
It imports, stores and distributes natural gas reconstructing and expanding gas supply infrastructures and underground gas depots. --0---
