YEREVAN, June 18. /ARKA/. Newly appointed Health Minister of Armenia Derenik Dumanyan said his main challenge is to make medical services affordable for people.
On June 16, Dumanyan was appointed as Health Minister of Armenia by the decree of the President Serzh Sargsyan. The former Minister of Health was a Prosperous Armenia party member Harutyun Kushkyan. Prosperous Armenia party has refused from joining the new ruling coalition.
“We are challenged by many issues related to many spheres, starting with primary health care and ending with high-quality and specialized medical service. But, first of all, we should make the population not to be afraid of diseases. People should be sure that in spite of anything they will get necessary medical aid. I must achieve this by all means, and my whole activity will be directed to this,” Dumanyan told the journalists on Monday after an extraordinary Cabinet meeting.
High-quality medicine, according to him, must be affordable in all meanings- financial, territorial, professional.
The Minister also highlighted that mandatory health insurance not only for civil servants, but also other citizens will be rolled out in Armenia.
Dumanyan commended the activity of his predecessor and thanked him for his decent work.
He added that there will be no dismissals in the Ministry. “I told the staff that I am determined to work with everybody and asked them to have the same intention,” he clarified. -0-
