YEREVAN, April 14. / ARKA /. Ashot Hovhanesian, head of the Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, downplayed fears that prices of eggs and fish may again surge ahead of Easter marked this year on April 20.
Speaking at a news conference today, he said Armenians consumer about 1,200 tons of fish on that day and about 10 million eggs and there is enough of both in fish and poultry farms. He said prices of egg may even drop a little the day before Easter.
According to the National Statistical Service, prices of fish products in March surged by 7 percent from the same month in 2013, but dropped by 1 percent if compared to 20114 February.
The price of eggs in March 2014 increased by 8.5% from the year before, but was lower 0,6 percent if compared to 2014 February, according to the National Statistical Service. ($1 – 415.44 drams). -0-
