YEREVAN, March 19. / ARKA /. The increased number of citizens in the capital city and beyond it dialing ambulance service’s telephone number is evidence that the confidence of people in it has grown resulting from a string of government-designed modernization measures, deputy health minister Vahan Poghosyan told a news conference today.
The plan of actions designed to modernize the ambulance service was adopted in 2010. It is to be accomplished later this year, he said.
In 2013 the number of ambulance calls increased by 23,000 compared with the previous year. In January 2014, the number of calls grew by 3000 compared with the same period in 2013th, according to official numbers. Yerevan has 7 ambulance stations, and 45 stations are located in provinces.
The deputy minister said new equipment was bought for ambulance stations in Kotayk, Ararat, Aragatsotn, Armavir, Tavush and Syunik regions.
In 2011, the Chinese government provided Armenia with 20 reanimobiles and 68 ambulances equipped with necessary equipment, 52 of which were given to regional stations and 36 to ambulance services in the capital. According to official data, in 2013 all ambulance stations in the country received 218,597 calls. -0-
