YEREVAN, May 20. / ARKA /. Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan told the parliament today that the government wants the number of communities to be reduced from 915 to about 300.
He argued that the government cannot afford having this number of community administrations.
“A country like Germany has consolidated its communities three times. I think we need to follow suit. It would increase dramatically the financial capabilities of the communities. And this will benefit their residents," Abrahamyan said.
According to him, the ministry of territorial administration is considering now a pilot project designed to consolidate four communities in Meghri, Dilijan, Jermuk and Tatev. -0 -
