Prime minister orders to raise university faculty salaries by 40 percent
YEREVAN, September 25. / ARKA /. Armenian prime minister Tigarn Sargsyan, who is also board chairman of the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Abovyan, told its rector Ruben Mirzakhanian during a regular meeting of the board, to raise the salaries of the faculty by 40%, the press service of the Armenian government reports.
The prime minister said last year he had too instructed the rector to raise the salary by 40%, which was done, "but it is still not enough."
"We will continue the process of raising salaries so that to encourage young professionals to tie their future with this university. They need to realize that the size of salary is comparable with the stringent requirements of quality, " he was quoted as saying. The rector said the rise will apply to about 900 members of the faculty. -0-
