Probation to help ensure neutrality in criminal justice – Armenian deputy minister
YEREVAN, August 14. /ARKA/. The probation service will help ensure neutrality in criminal justice system when introduced, Armenian deputy minister of justice Suren Krmoyan said.
The probation will bring punitive measures not connected with imprisonment into the penitentiary system, penalties and public works in particular, the deputy minister said. The new measures will also help relieve prison overcrowding, he said.
Back in February 2014, former secretary of Armenia’s national Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan said probation system will be introduced within the next year or two and will help save about $4.1 million per year. –0—
