YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. The lack of commercials at the Armenian Public Television has enhanced its popularity, Ruben Jaginyan, the chairman of the Public TV and Radio Company’s board, said Wednesday ay a parliament session.
The TV channel started broadcasting without commercials in the beginning of this year. “It is natural that people like to watch movies and programs not interrupted by commercials,” Jaginyan said.
Instead, there will be more high-quality social advertising on the channel.
Jaginyan said the Armenian Public Television is making preparations for transition to digital broadcasting in 2015.
“All the changes you see serve this goal,” he said. “The changes will not be limited to replacement of decorations in pavilions – broadcasting quality will be improved as well, and we have repeatedly said that.”
The Armenian government approved the concept of transition to digital TV and radio broadcasting on November 12, 2009. The process is planned to be completed in 2015. ---0----
