SCR chief hands gifts to female employees in connection with Women’s Day
YEREVAN, March 5. / ARKA /. Viktor Rebets, the chief executive officer of the South Caucasus Railways (SCR), a Russian company operating Armenia’s railroads, met today with female employees of the company to congratulate them in connection with March 8 International Women’s Day and hand them gifts and letters of appreciation for ‘excellent and conscientious performance of their duties’, the press service of the company said.
According to Rebets, women make a quarter of the company’s employees who are 4000.
"Our women have the responsibility, they are active, educated and hold senior positions Of 583 female employees 24 are different level leaders. Today will go down in the history of the Armenian railway by the fact that the first even woman was appointed head of a railway station, " he was quoted as saying.
Rebets said Anush Hakobyan was appointed head of Tumanyan station, which has recently been thoroughly renovated.
Some 34 employee received certificates of gratitude, prizes and gifts. Two families of women employees received targeted assistance. Two children adopted by an employee of Sevan station Anahit Hovhannisyan after the Spitak earthquake will have their one year university tuition fees paid by the company. The company will also pay the cost of repair of an employee’s house in Vanadzor.
Armenian Railways was handed over to the South Caucasus Railways on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years. -0-
