Season fair of agricultural products to be opened tomorrow in Yerevan
YEREVAN, June 29. /ARKA/. A regular season fair of agricultural products will be opened tomorrow in Yerevan, Deputy Armenian Agriculture Minister Robert Makaryan said Friday at a news conference.
In 2011, the agriculture ministry held such fairs on the square near Kasyan Street every weekend.
“These fairs have proven to be successful, and therefore we have decided to continue this tradition,” he said.
Makaryan also said that pavilions, scales, trolleys and special uniforms will be provided for free to all the villagers who want to offer their products to consumers here.
He said that such fairies help residents of rural and urban areas to establish direct ties without involving dealers in the trading process – it means consumers will by products at low prices, and the entire profits from selling will go directly to farmers.
The ministry organizes these fairs in cooperation with the city authorities.
Makaryan said that 36 fairs had been held over a period between August 21 and December 26, 2011. Some 7,000 farmers put up their fruits, vegetables and honey for sale.
This fair is organized on the Armenian president’s instruction and with VivaCell-MTS company’s support. -0-
