YEREVAN, August 4. / ARKA /. The Armenian government will release additionally 600 million drams this year to pay increased pensions of retired military personnel, first deputy head of the State Social Welfare Service Smbat Sairyan said today.
Military retirees in Armenia saw their pensions increased from the 1st of August by 10% to 50%. This increase covered a separate category of retired military officers, whose pensions were not increased from the 1st of July 2014.
According to the deputy head of the service, some 12,300 retired military pensioners with various degrees of disability will have their monthly pensions increased from 10% to 50%; about 1,250 families of servicemen died during the service will see the pensions increased by 20 percent and some 6,500 families of perished servicemen could choose between premium payments and a second pension. This requires 120 million drams additionally per month.
According to Sairyan, many families of perished servicemen lack information about their rights.
As a result of legislative changes, which came into effect on January 1, 2014, financial assistance was renamed premium payment. On the 1st of July the procedure for calculating military pension also changed resulting in almost a 15% increase of military pensions. ($ 1 - 406.28 drams). -0-
