DILIJAN, June 2. / ARKA /. A special fund set up by an ethnic Armenian businessman Ruben Vardanyan and his wife Veronica Zonabend to develop the resort town of Dilijan in Tavush province will focus on infrastructure and educational projects.
The projects will be implemented by RVVZ Foundation, established by the spouses.
The Dilijan development projects are based on the concept of social entrepreneurship, under which major expenditures are funded entirely by donors, while the projects should secure the operating expenses, Veronica Zonabend , who is also the co-founder of IDeA (Initiatives to Develop Armenia), said today.
She admitted that one of the reasons behind the establishment of the fund to develop the resort town is the Dilijan International School (UWC Dilijan College) that will open in autumn. The school is the initiative of Ruben Vardanyan.
"We want this school to become an integral part of the town. We are sure that it will bring a lot of changes to the town in terms of its infrastructure and residents," she said.
Arthur Hakobyan, the director of the Dilijan Development Fund, noted that all the projects of the Fund are in tune with the government’s programs designed for Tavush province.
“We want to see Dilijan as a town attractive to tourists and investment," he said. -0-
