YEREVAN, October 31. / ARKA /. The Armenian government on Thursday has decided to allow Syrian Armenians to drive their cars here without going through customs clearance up to 31 December, 2014.
According to Diaspora minister Hranush Hakobyan, the decision applies to vehicles imported to Armenia after July 1, 2012.
She said most of Syrian Armenian refugees with cars were allowed originally to have their cars go through customs clearance in 11 months, however the deadline has expired for many of them.
"It is unclear how long many of the refugees are going to stay in Armenia and the clearance procedure will be an additional financial burden for them. We want to free them from this burden," she said.
According to the Diaspora ministry, there are now about 11,000 Syrian Armenians in the country. -0-
