’Syrian’ school to be set up in Yerevan for Syrian Armenian children
YEREVAN, September 3. /ARKA/. Armenia’s education and science minister Armen Ashotyan met today with senior officials from the Yerevan Municipality, the Ministry of Diaspora and some Syrian Armenians to discuss the latter’s request to establish here a Syrian schools at one of the capital's educational institutions.
The press service of the ministry of education and science said the educational process at the new school will be coordinated by a representative of the Armenian community of Syria, appointed by the Armenian education ministry.
According to the report, the textbooks will be brought from Syria; the teachers will also be Syrian Armenians. The school’s financing will be provided by the Social Democratic Party Hnchakyan.
As of today 210 Syrian Armenian children have applied for admission at Yerevan schools. The minister said Syrian Armenian children may also attend ordinary Armenian school. -0-
