YEREVAN, August 21. /ARKA/. The third annual festival called ‘Treasures of Odzun” will be held as part of the annual inter-community meeting in Odzun village, said Zohrab Minasyan, the head of Armenian office of G2iA (Armenian International Inter-professional Group).
The aim of the festival is to consolidate local producers, Minasyan told a press conference on Wednesday.
This year festival on local manufacturing and historical-cultural heritage of Odzun village and surrounding 7 communities and 5 villages will be held on August 24, initiated by Kndarar cooperative and supported by G2iA, “Les Amis du G2iA” Armenia-France inter-professional network, Rhône-Alpes Region (France), Armenia’s ministry of economy and Lori regional administration.
The festival will consist of two parts, an agricultural fair and a cultural program with dance groups and choirs.
Last year festival was a turning point as people started believing their products were demanded, Minasyan said.
Minasyan said they are working on markets for products manufactured in Odzun and other villages. He also said they plan to set up small food processing factories there. After the first 2 festivals interest toward local produce and herb teas in particular is growing, he said.
According to Minasyan, a record-high number of guests, about five thousand people, are expected at the festival this year.
Head of Odzun village Arsen Titanyan, in his turn, said the festival promotes new jobs and new opportunies for local manufacturers. –0—
