Yerevan municipality intends to raise public transport fare
YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality intends to raise the public transportation fare, but does it a dishonest way by creating an impression that this is a public demand, a local newspaper ‘Zhoghovurd" (People) writes. The daily says it has learned that the municipality has changed and also cut many public transportation routes, as a result of which many citizens are forced to make changes to reach home or work.
"The only goal is to initiate public discontent in such a way that citizens themselves demand a rise in fare," the publication notes.
The daily quotes the head of the Union of Passenger Transportation Hrant Yeghiazaryan as saying that according to their calculations, about 50 thousand people have to make change to get home or to work in the capital today.
Currently, the fare for a bus and minibus trip in Yerevan is 100 drams, and 50 drams for the trolleybus. -0-
